Giving Opportunities
The Friends generate revenue through our book sales, bookstore sales, and membership fees. We also accept donations and grants from business entities and individual donors, both large and small, who care about the future of libraries and literacy support. Investing in a corporate sponsorship with the Friends isn’t just the right thing to do, it also makes smart business sense. Your company can better determine what your target audience cares about and align your image with those values. By sponsoring the Friends, you can attract positive media attention, set your company apart from larger brands, and inspire brand loyalty.

Special Events are offered at all library branches and provide children with a learning opportunity as well as a chance to visit their local library branch. Events are filled with exciting games, crafts, scavenger hunts, animal visits, reading challenges, and more! These events are a valuable outreach tool to interact with children across Escambia County and spark their interest in learning and reading. Costs of the program include fees to providers, entertainers, speakers, performers, etc. A donation of $500 will fund (1) or (2) events and can reach 50-500 children based on the popularity of the event.

Contribute to Makerspaces
What are Makerspaces?
Makerspaces are focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities. These creative spaces provide equity of access to classes, tools, and equipment and are an extension of a typical science/math curricula. Hands-on activities are used to emphasize the application of scientific concepts as we experience them in our daily lives. There are makerspaces currently at the Downtown and Bellview locations. The spaces include devices such as Robotics Equipment, Quilting Machines, 3D Printers, and laser cutting equipment.

Help Support the Friends Warehouse Building Fund
Warehouse History
The Friends receive book donations from many sources. Volunteers spend a significant amount of time organizing and sorting items by genre and placing them into boxes. Boxes are stored until they are sent to either a book sale or a bookstore. For many years the Friends used the Downtown Library garage, various old public-school buildings and units at a local Uncle Bob’s Storage facility to sort and store books. These were literally dark days as the lighting was poor and sorters struggled to read back covers in order to assign genres. The Friends recognized the need for a permanent storage facility and purchased the warehouse in 2016. The building was older and over the years updates to the electrical, lighting and AC systems have been made. Currently, the warehouse is in dire need of an update to the AC and supporting electrical system. The driveway leading to the warehouse also needs new gravel.
Needed Items
There are many ways to support the Friends Warehouse Fund:
Update to AC and Electrical Systems $35,000
New Gravel for Driveway $10,000
